These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things #8

It's weekly favourites time again folks...

1) Family Times
Living in Nottingham by myself with my family down South, my boyfriend in Leeds and my best friends all over the country can get a bit lonely sometimes. I am currently mid-way through a much needed two week holiday from work. I spent last weekend catching up with my family and I can’t tell you how good it was to see them. We are so close and I talk to my mum and sister nearly every day but it is just not the same as seeing them face to face! We spent Saturday walking around a local town and my dad treated us to a coffee and cake. The place that we went is called Jacks and it is famous for serving the best (and biggest!) cakes ever – see the photo above for a size comparison of the slices of cake next to the cup of coffee! At the minute I am in Devon visiting my boyfriend’s lovely family and next week I’ll be off to Cyprus. Think I can safely say that March has been the best month of 2015 so far!

2) Lush Baths
The thing that I missed most when I was student was baths. We didn't have one in halls or the house that my friends and I moved into, and I don’t think I would have used one in a student house anyway judging by the disgusting-ness of the rest of the house! Now I have baths all the time to make up for all the ones that I missed when I was living the student life. I never used to be able to use nice bath products as I had very sensitive skin but my skin type is changing so I am slowly trying out some new things. Of course my first stop was Lush and one of my favourite bits that I have tried from them is the Melting Marshmallow Moment pictured. As it is a bath melt (not a bath bomb) it doesn’t fizz up but gently bubbles away while turning your bath pink. It makes the whole bathroom smell like a sweet shop and I absolutely love it although it might be a bit overwhelming for people who aren’t fans of sweet scents. The best thing about bath melts is that they are packed full of moisturising oils and butters so your skin feels very nourished for hours afterwards. I would love to try out some different bits from Lush as we head into summer, has anyone got any recommendations?

3) St Moriz Instant Self Tanning Mousse
I have been cracking out the fake tan recently to get back into the habit of using it before I go away. I never tan naturally (I just burn then peel!) so I always have to slap on the fake stuff before I go on holiday to match up to my bronzed sister who tans by stepping into the sunlight for five seconds. To be fair, I don’t like sunbathing anyway and I know it is bad for your skin so thank god my faithful St Moriz Instant Self Tanning Mousse is always there to save the day! I have had some disasters with spray tans in the past so now I just stick to doing it myself and this is the best formula that I have tried. For me, speed and ease is the most important thing with fake tan as I hate sitting around waiting for a tan to develop when your skin is feeling all sticky. This one as perfect as the light weight mousse formula means that my skin doesn’t feel tacky after application, the mousse is really workable so I hardly ever get streaks and the colour is beautiful as it has a olive base instead of an orange base so I don’t end up looking like a wotsit. This particular mousse gives instant colour and develops while you are wearing it too so you can slap it on just before a night out and still be good to go. It lasts around three to four days on me with no patches but I often leave it on for a whole week out of laziness! Although I love this fake tan I still want to try a few more, like the St Tropez Express Mousse and the Dove Summer Glow Moisturising Lotion (my sister swears by it when she doesn’t have a natural tan and it always looks flawless!).
