If
you are familiar around these parts, you will have realised that I haven’t done
a weekly favourites post in a couple of weeks now as I have been trying out a few
different lifestyle-y posts on Thursdays. If you are a fan of weekly favourites
there is no need to worry because they are some of the posts that I enjoy writing most and
they won’t be going anywhere, they just may not be every week. Today my weekly favourites are back and I have
rustled up a nice little London themed one so why not take a peek (or a sticky
beak as they apparently say in cockney rhyming slang!)…
1) S
Club 7
If
you don’t follow me on twitter, you
may not be aware that I went to see the S Club 7 ‘Bring It All Back’ reunion tour at the O2. And you know what? I’m not even slightly ashamed to say that I
loved every minute of it. It was the
first time I had ever been to the O2 so I had no idea how huge it was going to
be and how far away our seats would be from the stage but it didn’t even matter
because it was all about the atmosphere. I think I must have had the most
nostalgic time of my life that night, their cheesey (but amazing) music
transported me right back to being six years old again. My memories of pretending to be Tina in the mirror (a controversial favourite I know) and
crying in happiness when my sister bought me their ‘Seeing Double’ movie on video
tape came flooding back! I think that every single person in the arena that night was having a
great time singing along to S Club's catchy hits and genuinely becoming uplifted
by the motivational lyrics. I think I might be giving six year old me a run
for her money for the world’s biggest S Club fan now!
2)
Beautiful views of London
While
I was in London to watch S Club, my friend Hannah and I decided to have a
really touristy day before hand to make the most out of being in London
together before she heads off to Camp America for the summer (sob). On the spur
of the moment we decided to go up The Shard as it was a beautiful day so we
knew that we would have really clear views. I would really recommend going up
there if you want to see 360 degree views of London, I have been on the London
Eye before which was fun but The Shard viewing platform is much higher up so
you can see for miles. I’m so glad we decided to do it because a sunny day in
London is quite rare and we were lucky to have some lovely views! Hannah mentioned
that she doesn't think that London is particularly nice to look at with
its grey buildings and the brown River Thames dominating the view but I kind of
love that about London, it has a more historical feel than other big
cities such as New York which makes it really interesting to explore. My
favourite photo that I took up there has to be the one above of London
Bridge with the boats cruising on the River Thames and London buildings sprawling out as far as the eye can see.
3)
Be At One cocktails
When
we were all cultured out (if you can call The Shard and S Club culture), Hannah
and I obviously had to make the most out of happy hour at Be At One. This has to be one of the best cocktail bars that I ever
been to, and I have already planned another trip to the one in Bath next
weekend with my friends Lissie and Nina. The cocktail menus in these bars are extensive
with something that will suit everyone’s taste, from ice cream cocktails to
green smoothies with vodka. We stuck with the safe but delicious options of the
tangy passion fruit collins and the frozen raspberry mojitos. This is the kind
of place that will have a drink that every single person in your group will
love, especially with the 2 for 1 happy hour deal they do in all of their bars every day.
Be warned though, these cocktails pack a punch as their yumminess masks how strong they really
are and I was pretty tipsy after just two!
